When is baby ready to be worn in the hip and back carry positions? Every baby develops differently. You can start using the hip and back carry once your baby demonstrates strong head and neck control, can sit unassisted, and weighs 17.2 lbs minimum (7.8 kg). This is usually around 6 months.
