Product Description

Details

The ergoPouch 3.5 tog Organic Hip Harness Sleeping Bag is for infants and toddlers who are required to wear a special brace (orthosis) to treat Developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH). Designed for arms-out sleepers (usually from around 4 months of age), the stretchy Jersey Bag is recommended as baby's 'first sleeping bag' after the swaddling phase is over. The extra wide bell-shaped bottom is approved by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as being hip-healthy and comfortably fits over a Pavlik Harness, Denis Browne Brace and Rhino Brace. Made from soft, stretchy GOTS-certified organic cotton, and bamboo viscose that is non-toxic and gentle on baby's skin.

It is perfect for keeping a child warm overnight in rooms 12-19°C with no need for additional blankets in the cot when using this product, making it a safe-sleep option. Parents can be rest assured that the breathable organic and natural fibres will help regulate their child’s temperature and prevent overheating. We suggest layering underneath as needed for warmth, simply follow the free room thermometer and what to wear guide included with the product to help dress your child appropriately.

Fire Safety

This product complies with the Product Safety Standard (Children’s Nightwear and Limited Daywear Having Reduced Fire Hazard) Regulations 2016 and  Safety Standard AS/NZS 1249:2014 (Children's Nightwear and Limited Daywear having Reduced Fire Hazard).

Highlights

  • Perfect for keeping a child warm overnight in rooms 12-19°C
  • Super stretchy to allow for natural movement
  • Made from skin-friendly, breathable natural organic cotton
  • 2-way zipper for easy nappy change
  • Designed especially for those in a hip harness or brace

Sizing Information

Sizing Chart

The Hip Harness Jersey Sleeping Bag has been tested to fit the Pavlik Harness, Denis Browne Brace and Rhino Brace. Please use your child's weight and height to find the most appropriate and safe size for them. A sleeping bag should be well fitted around the neck and the armholes to avoid your baby slipping through. When on your child, the pouch will have additional length below the harness. This length can be left as is, or rolled up underneath the harness for your child's brace to rest on, if that's comfortable for them. Once your child is out of their hip harness, they can continue to safely use the jersey sleeping bag as their regular sleeping pouch.

How to Use

1. Lay Sleeping Bag on flat, low surface with zip open and arm studs closed
2. Lay baby on top of Sleeping Bag. Tuck legs/brace into swaddle, and zip up with baby's hands in desired position (by sides, or across chest). The extra length of the pouch can be rolled up underneath the brace, for your child's brace to rest on if that's comfortable for them.
3. To change a nappy or cool down baby, zip open from the bottom of the pouch to release legs/brace and lower torso. Zip closed again when finished.
4. Layer underneath for warmth as needed
5. To transition to arms-out sleeping once showing signs of rolling, release arms by opening the studs on the shoulders. We suggest doing this one arm at a time over several days.
6. The Sleeping Bag can continue to be used as a safe sleep option once your baby's harness is no longer required.

Always sleep your baby in a safe-sleep environment.

Warnings

  • The Hip Harness Jersey Sleeping Bag meets all safety standards in Australia and New Zealand.
  • Ensure you buy the correct size for your baby's weight, to prevent the Sleeping Bag from riding up around your baby's face.
  • Not suitable for use in a 5 point car seat or pram harness.

Materials & Care

Materials

Materials
Body, Sleeves & Lining - 95% Organic Cotton / 5% Elastane
Filling - 100% Organic Cotton
Care
Gentle cold machine wash in mild detergent
Do not soak or bleach
Tumble dry low
Warm iron if required
Do not dry clean

Tip - When cared for properly, this product will last several years and can be used for more than one baby. The TOGs don't lose their warmth ratings over time, but a gentle fluff up in the dryer on a low setting helps maintain the fibre's loft, allowing air to circulate more effectively.
Always follow the instructions on the care label

The Sleeping Bag is made from and filled with Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified organic cotton that is non-toxic and gentle on irritable skin. All ergoPouch fabrics are dyed with non-toxic water based dyes. The Sleeping Bag is reviewed by the Eczema Association of Australasia (EAA) as a skin-friendly product.

Ergopouch
ergoPouch was founded in 2009 by super sleep-deprived mum Alina Sack. Alina was inspired to develop the first ergoPouch sleeping bag after sewing one for her first 'sleep-challenged' son.
