Woolbabe Sleeping Suit Clothing Guide - What to Dress Baby in at Night

Woolbabe Sleeping Suit Clothing Guide - What to Dress Baby in at Night

Too often, babies & toddlers wake from the cold overnight. As parents ourselves, we know how confusing it can be to dress your child overnight, especially when we want to prevent night wake ups from the cold!

Overall we find woolbabe sleeping suits very forgiving, because of their special merino/cotton blend. The 100% natural fabric means you can use the bags in a very wide range of temperatures as the wool content helps regulate your child's temperature and also absorbs moisture, wicking it away from the skin.

Use our clothing guide below as a starting point for how to dress your baby at night in their Woolbabe Sleeping Suit.

Each woolbabe comes with a room thermometer

Every Woolbabe sleeping suit comes with a handy room thermometer that indicates the ambient temperature. On the back of the thermometer is a clothing guide.

It's good to note that every baby and child is different and it's important not to overheat your baby. The guides below are just that, guides. Use them as a starting point and adjust your child's layers accordingly, making sure to check that they are not too hot or too cold.

As with bedding, we recommend using natural fibre clothing or sleepwear with your Woolbabe, such as merino, which is excellent at wicking away moisture when it's hot and retaining warmth when it's cold. 100% cotton is a good alternative.

Choosing a 3 Seasons or Duvet Weight Sleeping Suit

Choose your Woolbabe Sleeping Suit based on your child's average room temperature. For summer and warmer climates, the 3 seasons sleeping suit is ideal as it can be used between 18 and 30 degrees, whereas a duvet sleeping suit is better for winter and colder climates. It can even be used in room temperatures as low as 14 degrees, though please note that the World Health Organisation recommends that children do not sleep in rooms colder than 16 degrees

Woolbabe Duvet Weight Sleeping Suit with Sleeves (Winter weight)

Filled with 100% merino wadding, the Woolbabe Duvet Sleeping Suit with sleeves is woolbabe's warmest sleeping suit. It features a merino & organic cotton blend outer, and 100% cotton lining, making it easy to care for. The arm sleeves are made of two layers of merino & organic cotton blend (the same fabric as the 3-seasons sleeping suits).

Please note that the World Health Organisation recommend that children do not sleep in rooms colder than 16 degrees, so we recommend using a heater on low if your child's room gets below 16 degrees.

Handy tip for winter!

To keep little feet warm in winter you can either fold the cuff over baby's feet or add a pair of wool socks.  Lamington merino socks are our favourite!
